Are Voters Finally Done With Donald Trump?

A new Reuters/Ipsos poll lands like a wrecking ball on the White House. Trump’s approval has crashed to thirty-four percent, with sixty-four percent disapproving. That’s the worst of his second term. On cost of living, just twenty-two percent approve, an all-time low. Political scientist Larry Sabato called it negative thirty on the job and negative forty-seven on prices. Eric Michael Garcia of The Independent said voters are just done. Commentator Russell Drew said we’re deep in George W. Bush post-Katrina territory. This came after the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Even Republicans are bailing. An AP/NORC poll found one in three Republicans now disapproves. When the working class turns on a billionaire who promised to fix their lives, that’s how empires of grift collapse.

Trump’s FCC Weaponizes Broadcast Licenses To Punish Late Night Comedy

Brendan Carr’s FCC just ordered Disney’s eight ABC stations to file early license renewals. Years early. Why? Because Jimmy Kimmel made a joke about Melania looking like an expectant widow. The FCC dressed it up as a DEI investigation. Nobody’s buying that. Kimmel said it was a light roast about the age difference between an almost-eighty-year-old and a younger woman. Anna Gomez, the lone Democrat on the FCC, called it unprecedented and unlawful, a political stunt that won’t stick. Seth Stern at the Freedom of the Press Foundation said the FCC is neither the journalism police nor the humor police. He called it illegal jawboning to intimidate ABC into kissing the ring. When a president weaponizes federal agencies to silence comedians, the First Amendment isn’t worth the parchment it’s printed on.

Why Do Americans Feel Poorer Than At Any Point In 25 Years?

Gallup just dropped a poll that should terrify every Republican on a ballot. Fifty-five percent of Americans say their financial situation is getting worse. That’s higher than the Great Recession. Higher than the pandemic. Higher than the 2023 inflation crisis. It’s the worst Gallup has measured in twenty-five years. Only twenty-two percent approve of how Trump is handling the cost of living. The Iran war is driving gas prices through the roof. Grocery bills are crushing families. Sixty-two percent worry they won’t have enough for retirement. Sixty percent fear one medical emergency could wipe them out. So what does Trump want to talk about? A taxpayer-funded ballroom at the White House. The man who promised a golden age has delivered a gilded cage for the rich and a basement for everyone else.

Fetterman Hands Trump A Green Light To Bomb Cuba

The Senate just sank a war powers resolution that would’ve stopped Trump from launching a war on Cuba. The vote was fifty-one to forty-seven. Republicans Susan Collins and Rand Paul crossed over to back the resolution. And John Fetterman, the Pennsylvania Democrat, crossed the other way to kill it. Tim Kaine introduced the bill. Chuck Schumer said the last thing working Americans need right now is another war ninety miles south of Florida. Ruben Gallego said Americans want housing built in Arizona, not housing bombed in Havana. Trump’s already attacked seven countries since returning to office. Cuba would be the eighth. The Constitution gives Congress, not the president, the power to declare war. Senate Republicans, plus one renegade Democrat, just handed that power to a king.

Is Trump Quietly Stealing The Next Election?

A Reuters investigation just exposed a chilling Trump operation. The administration’s using the Department of Homeland Security to assert federal control over elections in at least eight states. Under the Constitution, states run elections. Not Washington. Not DHS. Critics say the plan is to racially profile voters and invalidate their ballots by pretending citizens aren’t citizens. Same ugly playbook as the deportation raids. The Brennan Center has tracked it for months. The DOJ’s suing more than twenty states for voter rolls. The CISA election security program’s been gutted. Trump has called for ICE agents at polling places. He’s openly talked about nationalizing the midterms. This is how democracies die. Not in a thunderclap. In a thousand quiet bureaucratic moves while everyone’s distracted by the next celebrity outrage.

Eric Trump Cashes In While MAGA Investors Lose A Fortune

Forbes just dropped a bombshell on Eric Trump’s bitcoin venture. American Bitcoin went public on the Nasdaq last September valued at thirteen point two billion dollars. It’s now down ninety-two percent. Small investors, mostly MAGA loyalists, have lost roughly five hundred million dollars. Eric Trump? His personal fortune jumped from one hundred ninety million to two hundred eighty million. Forbes called the operation an arbitrage vehicle preying on MAGA-minded investors. The company sold inflated shares and bought bitcoin at retail. Eric’s response? He accused Forbes of being acquired by China. The grift is the whole business model. Working people hand their savings to a Trump. The Trump pockets the cash. The investors hold the bag. And they get smeared as foreign agents for noticing.

And that’s the way it is, Today Wednesday, April 29, 2026. I’m Thom Hartmann.
